UCI Liquid Rocket Project

As the Propulsion Lead Engineer for the UCI Rocket Project, I managed the progress of our propulsion team as we design a bi-propellant Methalox rocket to break the collegiate Methalox rocket altitude record of 13,205 ft.

Feed System Design

The focus of my technical work has been the design, manufacturing, testing and integration of our rocket's fluid system. Beginning with a P&ID, the layout of all needed components was chosen to minimize weight while ensuring all safety regulations were met.

CAD Assembly

One of my largest contributions was the CAD for the full feed system that allowed us to design structural components around the required section lengths. It also ensured the fluid system could properly fit within the 8" rocket diameter.

Testing

This year we have begun full system testing using liquid nitrogen in Cold Flows to gather pressure data across our system. We are preparing to complete two vertical test fires in the next month to prepare for our launch this spring.
